We welcome your submissions

Kildare County Council and Meath County Council propose to make a Joint Local Area Plan (LAP) for the Maynooth and Environs area.  The Joint LAP incorporates a framework for guiding the future development of transportation, housing, retail, heritage, employment, and social and community infrastructure in Maynooth. 

The Draft Maynooth and Environs Joint Local Area Plan 2025-2031 (Draft Plan) comprises a written statement and maps and is accompanied by:

  • A Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Environmental Report pursuant to the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment [SEA]) Regulations 2004-2011.
  • A Natura Impact Report pursuant to the EU Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC).
  • A Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) Report pursuant to Section 28 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) and an accompanying Surface Water Management Strategy. 
  • A Settlement Capacity Audit (SCA).
  • A Social Infrastructure Audit (SIA).
  • A Statement of Character (SoC) for the Architectural Conservation Area.

A copy of these documents may be inspected from Wednesday 19th June to Thursday 1st August 2024 at the following locations:

  • Planning Department, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Naas, Co. Kildare.

  • Ratoath Municipal District Office, Drumree Road, Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath.

A public information session will take place on Wednesday the 10th of July from 3pm to 7pm in Room 039 of the Technology, Society and Innovation Building (TSI Building) Maynooth University, Kilcock Road, Eircode W23 X04D. 

Have your say on the Local Area Plan!

Kildare County Council and Meath County Council now invite submissions in respect of the Draft Plan and accompanying reports (including environmental reports) before 4pm on Thursday 1st August 2024.  Your name and address should be stated in your submission, and where relevant, the body or organisation represented. Children or groups/associations representing the interests of children are welcome to make submissions.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: 4pm Thursday 1st August 2024.

All submissions received will be reviewed jointly by both local authorities.
